#MCS2014: Firms using digital services to build customer relationships

Companies will increasingly use digital channels to build relationships with their customers, according to a technology industry expert.

Tal Elgar, innovation and new business manager at Intel, told The Mobile Content Summit 2014: “It is only just the beginning when it comes to digital trends.”

This year 13.5 per cent of all retail sales in the UK will be made online – a figure that is higher than those of most other countries.

According to Elgar it is important that companies take opportunities to innovate in the digital space to promote their brands. Taking a digital approach and using it to offer services can increase customer engagement and enhance sales.

For example, Amazon has not only benefited from the Kindle Fire through device sales. Customers using the tablet are more likely to buy digital content through Amazon itself.

The Hudl has had a similar effect for Tesco. Elgar says: “It is not about the device – it is about their services.”

Intel has software platform capabilities to help companies customise digital devices and has pre-made services that companies can brand as own.
