Netflix profits up following subscriber surge

Netflix revenues hit £681 million in the third quarter of 2013 after it received 2.7 million new signups.

The figures show an increase of 22% since the video streaming service saw revenues of £561 million during the same period in 2012.

In the same time, profits rose from £4.96 million to £19.84 million – an increase of 300%.

1.3 million of Netflix’s new customers are US-based, while the remaining 1.4 million come from the rest of the world.

The company expanded into the Nordic countries and the Netherlands in 2012.
